Supreme Court to Decide President's Power in Rivers State Emergency Case

The Supreme Court in Abuja is set to decide on the legality of President's power to suspend governors and assemblies during a state of emergency in Rivers State. The case, brought by 11 governors including Bola Tinubu, challenges the declaration of a state of emergency.

The Federal Government is vigorously defending the President's constitutional powers in this matter. Notably, legal heavyweights like Lateef Fagbemi and Akinlolu Olujimi are leading the defense, while Eyitayo Jegede is heading the plaintiff team.

The court proceedings have seen intense arguments on the extent of the President's proclamation powers.
