Romuald Wadagni Elected President of Benin with 94% Vote

Romuald Wadagni, born on June 20, 1976, in Lokossa, Benin, has been elected as the President of Benin following a decisive electoral victory on April 12, where he secured 94% of the vote against opposition candidate Paul Hounkp. Wadagni, a 49-year-old Harvard Business School graduate, previously served as the Minister of Economy and Finance, where he played a crucial role in stabilizing public finances and improving fiscal transparency.

His election is seen as a continuation of the reform agenda initiated by outgoing President Patrice Talon. Wadagni has extensive experience in finance, having spent nearly two decades at Deloitte, where he rose to partner and contributed to the firm's expansion in Francophone Africa.
