Runsewe: How Recycling Can Redefine Waste Management, Cultural Revolution

FREEE Recycle, an integrated recycling company in Nigeria, launched an artist residency program to redefine waste management and promote cultural revolution. The program brought together students from tertiary institutions to create artwork from discarded materials like rubber and steel, exploring Nigerian history and culture.

Ifedolapo Runsewe, the Managing Director of FREEE Recycle, emphasized the importance of redefining the value of waste to drive social and cultural policy changes. The company has been successful in recycling waste tires, preventing environmental harm, and creating job opportunities.

The residency program, called Echoes Reclamation, aims to challenge perceptions of waste and inspire sustainable practices through art and storytelling. FREEE Recycle believes that recycling can be a tool for social commentary and cultural evolution, unlocking the value of waste and expanding the narrative around recycling.
