Bristol Airport Suspends Flights Due to Runway Defect

Bristol Airport in the United Kingdom suspended all flight operations at approximately 6:08 PM on Friday due to a defect discovered on part of its runway. The airport announced that the suspension would last until 8 AM Saturday; however, GB News later reported that the disruption extended into Saturday morning as officials conducted inspection and repair work.

The airport emphasized that the suspension was a precautionary measure to prioritize safety and advised passengers to contact their airlines for flight information. EasyJet warned travelers to expect continued disruption.

Passengers expressed confusion during the shutdown, with reports of limited information and difficulties retrieving luggage. Richard Broadbent, who was scheduled to travel to Newcastle, described the situation as chaotic, with passengers crowded into a single area.

Paul Smith, who intended to fly to Glasgow, criticized the poor communication and support provided during the disruption. The airport did not specify the cause of the runway defect, but some passengers referred to it as a "hole." Flights were diverted to London Gatwick, Birmingham, and Cardiff.
