South West Monarchs Push for Special Seats Bill to Boost Women's Political Representation

South West traditional rulers, spearheaded by Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, launched a campaign in Abuja to rally political support for the Special Seats Bill aimed at increasing women's representation in Nigerian politics. The bill proposes additional seats for women in the Senate, House of Representatives, and state assemblies.

The monarchs emphasized the importance of gender equality in political participation and highlighted the need for lawmakers to fulfill their moral duty by expanding the political space for Nigerian women. Senator Oluremi Tinubu was commended for her longstanding commitment to women's empowerment.
