Saleh Mamman Boycotts APC Meeting Over Governor's Influence

Saleh Mamman, a former Minister of Power and a governorship aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC), boycotted a meeting convened by Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefa at the government house in Jalingo on May 2, 2026. Mamman expressed his decision to abstain from the meeting due to concerns that the governor's presence could unduly influence the political process and decisions regarding the upcoming governorship election in Taraba State.

The meeting aimed to bring together various aspirants for different electoral positions, including the state house of assembly, house of representatives, senate, and governorship, to discuss the possibility of adopting a consensus candidate within the party. Mamman deemed the government house an unsuitable venue for such a meeting involving competing aspirants and highlighted the growing tension within the party as aspirants vie for influence ahead of the governorship race.
