Sam Amadi Calls for Arrest of Cleric Over Bounty on Pastor

Sam Amadi, the former chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has demanded the arrest of a cleric who publicly offered a ₦1 million bounty for the killing of a pastor. This cleric, featured in a viral video, called for the beheading of the pastor, accusing him of insulting the Prophet Muhammad.

The video, which has circulated widely on social media, shows the cleric flaunting the cash reward and promising to pay the killer upon completion of the act. Amadi expressed concerns that such statements could incite violence and escalate religious tensions, particularly in Northern Nigeria.

He made this call for action on Thursday, highlighting the potential dangers of instigating violence based on religious sentiments.
