Sanya Oyin Olugbile Wins $100,000 Nigeria Prize for Literature

Sanya Oyin Olugbile emerged as the winner of the prestigious Nigeria Prize for Literature, receiving a cash prize of $100,000. The announcement was made during the award ceremony held in Lagos, where Professor Akachi Adimora Ezeigbo, the chairman of the advisory board, revealed Olugbile as the winner out of 252 novel submissions sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited.

Olugbile's novel, "Sanya," stood out for its mythological retelling approach and captivating storytelling in the Yoruba mythology. The event also recognized other writers like Chigozi Obioma, Nikki Mai, Okwudiri Anasiudu, and Helon Habila.

Philip Mshelbila, the Managing Director of NLNG, highlighted the enduring influence of literature.
