Saudi Arabia Launches AI Service for Expat Job Title Changes

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has introduced an AI-supported electronic service aimed at allowing businesses to change or correct the registered professions of expatriate employees working under their sponsorship. This service, part of the ministry's digital offerings set for 2026, aligns an employee's recorded job title with their actual work.

It also enables establishments to correct a worker's profession according to the Unified Saudi Occupational Classification Guide, the standard reference for job categorization in the country. The process is fully online, eliminating the need for employers to visit the Ministry in person.

To utilize the service, establishments must log in, select the career change service, and follow the provided steps to submit their application. The ministry emphasized that artificial intelligence supports the backend of the service to ensure accurate matching between actual roles and classifications.

This initiative addresses the legal implications of mismatched job titles for expatriate workers, many of whom are Nigerian and other African nationals, and aims to reduce bureaucratic delays historically faced by these workers.
