Schmeichel Slams VAR for Disallowing West Ham Goal

Peter Schmeichel, the former Manchester United goalkeeper, expressed his outrage over the VAR ruling that disallowed a late equalizing goal for West Ham against Arsenal during a Premier League match. The incident occurred when West Ham's Callum Wilson appeared to salvage a draw, but the goal was ultimately chalked off after a lengthy review.

The on-field referee, Chris Kavanagh, consulted the pitchside VAR screen and awarded a free kick against Arsenal's goalkeeper, David Raya. Schmeichel was one of the loudest critics of the decision, arguing that it completely undermined Mikel Arteta's side.

He stated that he did not believe Arsenal had committed a foul worthy of a free kick. Schmeichel's comments echoed the sentiments of other football analysts, including Alan Shearer, who noted inconsistencies in VAR decisions throughout the season.

Wayne Rooney also supported the referee's verdict, stating that it was a clear foul.
