Scholar Decries Surge in Mental Health Crises and Suicide Attempts in Nigeria

Professor Matthew Olufunso Salomi from Don Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University in Nigeria delivered a lecture on the surge in mental health issues and suicide attempts in the country. He pointed out the lack of adequate information and preventive measures as key contributors to the prevailing ailments.

The professor stressed the importance of addressing the physical, economic, social, and emotional issues affecting Nigerians that pose serious challenges to mental health. Urgent action and proper care for potential suicide victims were highlighted.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Moham Suleiman, reiterated the university's commitment to promoting research and innovation to address real-life challenges and improve people's well-being.
