SEC Sets Deadline for CMOs' Registration by January 2026

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Nigeria has mandated Capital Market Operators (CMOs) to renew their registration by January 2026. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen regulatory frameworks and modernize market oversight.

Emomotimi Agama, the Director-General of SEC, highlighted the move towards digital transformation to simplify regulatory procedures and improve efficiency. The SEC is leveraging technology to streamline registration processes, enhance market engagement, and ensure faster and transparent regulatory actions.

The commission is also focusing on cybersecurity measures to protect investor data and prevent market abuses.
