SEDC Launches Community Projects for South-East Development

The South East Development Commission (SEDC) is set to launch community-based social impact programs to enhance the livelihoods of rural communities in the South-East, following approval from the region's governors. Dr. Cliff Ogbede, the Executive Director for Natural Resources, Agriculture and Rural Development at SEDC, made this announcement during the Renewed Hope Community Advancement Programme sensitization campaign held in Ngbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Representing the Managing Director/CEO of SEDC, Mark Okoye Jnr., Ogbede stated that the Commission has engaged with traditional rulers, town union executives, and religious leaders to identify priority areas for intervention. He emphasized that SEDC has focused on developing a comprehensive development blueprint, which has been endorsed by the five governors of the South-East, before initiating project execution.

Ogbede drew parallels with the development strategies of the former Eastern Region under Dr. Michael Okpara, highlighting the need for strategic resource deployment to address significant ecological challenges and infrastructure deficits in the region.
