Nigerian Female-Led Startups Raise Funding in 2025

In 2025, the Nigerian startup ecosystem, recognized as one of Africa's top four markets alongside Kenya, Egypt, and South Africa, saw eleven female-led startups successfully raise funding. Despite the male-dominated landscape, female founders are gradually making strides, with a reported total of $3.3 million raised by female-led ventures during this period.

One notable startup, PocketLawy, founded by Ngozi Nwabuez in 2020, is a Lagos-based legal tech firm that operates a virtual law firm powered by AI. In July 2025, PocketLawy raised $100,000 from Nubia Capital to enhance its platform, which aims to deliver affordable legal services to startups and small businesses.

The platform assists entrepreneurs in accessing legal advice and generating essential legal documents, thereby helping them navigate the often expensive and complex legal processes.
