Nigerian Senate Passes MTEF/FSP; Tinubu Set to Present 2026 Budget

The Nigerian Senate has approved the 2026-2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework/Fiscal Strategy Paper, setting the stage for Bola Tinubu to present the 2026 budget proposal. The document outlines massive aggregate expenditure projections for the upcoming fiscal years.

The Senate passed the budget after considering the report presented by Senator Moham Sani Musa. The budget proposal includes an oil benchmark of $64.85 per barrel, projected revenues of 34.33 trillion naira, and fiscal deficit of N20.13 trillion.

Godswil Akpabio described the MTEF as a prerequisite for presenting the national budget.
