Timi Frank Backs Sonko, Accuses President Fay of Betrayal

Timi Frank, a former deputy national public secretary of the APC, expressed support for Senegal's newly elected Speaker Ousmane Sonko, accusing President Bassir Diomaye Fay of betraying the reform agenda that brought his administration to power. In a statement on Wednesday, Frank highlighted the growing political crisis in Senegal, describing it as a painful betrayal of the revolutionary vision championed by former Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and the PASTEF Movement, which has garnered significant support from Senegalese youth.

Frank noted Sonko's central role in reshaping Senegal's political landscape and criticized Fay for allegedly deviating from the ideals that inspired the movement. He warned that Fay's administration might revert to old political orders, particularly with individuals associated with former President Macky Sall regaining influence.

Despite Sonko's imprisonment and disqualification from the 2024 presidential election, Frank asserted that Sonko remains committed to mobilizing support for the movement and urged Senegalese citizens to continue backing Sonko's leadership and vision for economic independence and reform.
