Belgrade Protests Escalate: Tear Gas Used on Demonstrators

In Belgrade, Serbia, thousands of protesters clashed with police, leading to a dangerous escalation as tear gas was fired to disperse the crowds. The demonstration, which began peacefully, turned violent near the historic Army Headquarters, resulting in clashes and the deployment of armored vehicles.

The protests stemmed from a railway station collapse in Novi Sad that killed 16 people, fueling existing political tensions and accusations of systemic corruption. President Aleksandar Vučić deployed officers nationwide following injuries to police and civilians.
