Civil Society Group Sues SGF Over Withholding Minister's Academic Records

A civil society group, Patriot for Advancement of Peace and Social Development, has taken the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) to court for refusing to disclose Minister Alhaji Bello Matawalle's academic records. The group filed a lawsuit seeking a court order to compel the SGF to release Matawalle's curriculum vitae and supporting documents.

The SGF had previously rejected a Freedom of Information (FOI) request, citing privacy protection laws. This legal action highlights the ongoing battle for transparency in government appointments and the scrutiny of public officials' qualifications.
