Shettima Attends Wadagni's Inauguration in Benin

On Saturday, Kashim Shettima, the Vice President of Nigeria, departed from Abuja to Cotonou, Benin, to attend the inauguration of Romuald Wadagni as the President of the Republic of Benin. The inauguration ceremony is set to take place on Sunday at the presidential palace in Cotonou, where Wadagni will take the oath of office for a seven-year term.

His running mate, Mariam Chabi Talata, will also be sworn in as Vice President. The ceremony will follow traditional state protocols, including the official transfer of power, presentation of the presidential sash, and other insignia.

The motorcade will proceed to the Charles de Gaulle Stadium in Porto Novo. Nigeria and Benin share a deep historical, socio-cultural, and economic relationship, with ongoing cooperation in areas such as border security and trade policies.

Despite challenges, President Bola Tinubu remains committed to assuming office and strengthening ties with the Republic of Benin.
