Shettima Pitches Northern Support for Tinubu's 2027 Re-election Bid

Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on northern Nigerian leaders to rally behind President Bola Tinubu's campaign for re-election in 2027. Speaking on Monday during a meeting with officials from Arewa for Tinubu, a northern-based political group, Shettima asserted that the region should feel secure under another Tinubu administration.

Shettima pointed to tangible outcomes from the current government to support his case. He cited agricultural funding and other development initiatives as evidence of how the North has benefited from Tinubu's tenure.

The Vice President also stressed the importance of northern unity, urging leaders to present a coordinated front in backing the President's bid for a fresh mandate. The Arewa for Tinubu delegation visited Aso Rock to meet with Shettima, according to reports published across multiple outlets.

The group, described as a political think tank, has mapped out plans to expand grassroots mobilization efforts. Reports indicate the organization intends to engage with religious leaders as part of its strategy to build support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket in the region.

Shettima's appeal came as political positioning intensifies ahead of the 2027 general elections. His remarks framed a second Tinubu term as offering stability and economic advancement for northerners.

The Vice President's direct engagement with A4A representatives reflects broader efforts by the administration to secure backing from key northern constituencies before the election cycle formally opens.
