NDDC Urges Scholarship Beneficiaries to Avoid Drugs

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has urged 200 beneficiaries of its 2026-2027 foreign postgraduate scholarship program to shun drugs and maintain good character. During a pre-departure briefing in Port Harcourt, NDDC Managing Director Samuel Ogbuku emphasized the need for academic excellence and warned that any misconduct could result in the withdrawal of their scholarships.
Ogbuku highlighted the scholarship as a unique opportunity for the beneficiaries to acquire knowledge and skills that would contribute to the development of the Niger Delta region. He disclosed that previous beneficiaries had distinguished themselves academically, with 30 students achieving notable records in the last academic session.
Dr. Patience Ezugwu, Director of Education, Health, and Social Services, described the scholarship scheme as an investment in the future of the Niger Delta people.
The program received 2,492 applications, with Miss Aisosa Margaret from Edo State emerging as the top candidate, scoring 90, followed by Mr. Nwokocha Michael from Imo State.
