Diego Simeone, the head coach of Atletico Madrid, credited forward Ademola Lookman for his transformative impact on the team during their UEFA Champions League campaign. Lookman's performance was pivotal in Atletico's 2-1 defeat of Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-final second leg, where his lone goal secured a 3-2 aggregate victory.

This marked the third time Atletico eliminated the Catalan giants at this stage of the competition. Atletico Madrid has also advanced to the final of the Copa del Rey, where they will face Real Sociedad.

Simeone emphasized Lookman's unique profile and tactical flexibility, noting that he has significantly improved the team's dynamics since his arrival in January. Lookman has recorded four goals and four assists in nine matches across the Copa del Rey and Champions League, along with two goals and eight assists in La Liga, totaling six goals and four assists in 17 appearances across all competitions within just three months.
