SMEDAN and EFCC Partner to Boost Youth Cybersecurity Skills

The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are developing a joint framework to enhance young entrepreneurs' skills in cybersecurity, financial literacy, and ethical business practices. This initiative aims to bolster the integrity of Nigeria's digital economy and prevent financial crimes.

The collaboration was discussed during a meeting between SMEDAN's Director-General, Charles Odii, and EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, in Abuja. The proposed framework includes integrating components of SMEDAN’s ICSS curriculum into EFCC’s cybersecurity training programs, while the EFCC will participate in selected SMEDAN training initiatives.

Olukoyede emphasized the importance of providing legitimate economic opportunities to youths to deter them from activities that could harm the economy. Odii highlighted the need for government institutions to collaborate effectively to address the needs of Nigeria's expanding youth population, advocating for a comprehensive approach to youth empowerment that includes training, mentorship, and access to opportunities.
