Sokoto Council Chairman Kalanjeni Resigns from APC

Isa Salihu Bashir Kalanjeni, the Executive Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area in Sokoto State, announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his council position. The resignation was communicated through two separate letters, the first dated May 5, 2026, addressed to the APC ward chairman of Kalanjeni Ward, and the second dated July 7, 2026, directed to the Sokoto State Government Commission for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Kalanjeni described his decision as a personal one, made after extensive consultations with family and political associates. He cited administrative challenges that hindered his ability to fulfill his responsibilities to the expected standards.

Kalanjeni expressed gratitude to the people of Tangaza, local government staff, and the Sokoto State government for the opportunity to serve, wishing his successor success. As of now, the APC has not issued an official statement regarding Kalanjeni's resignation.
