Sokoto Government Open to Dialogue with Repentant Bandits for Lasting Stability

Special Adviser on Security to Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Abdul Usman, announced the state government's willingness to engage in dialogue with repentant bandits who are ready to renounce violence and reintegrate into society. Usman emphasized that any negotiation would be conditional, transparent, and closely monitored, with no blanket amnesty provided.

The government's strategy to combat insecurity includes equipping security agencies, establishing the Sokoto Community Guard Corps for intelligence gathering, and providing support to victims of attacks. Relief materials, medical aid, and temporary shelter are being offered to displaced persons.

The primary focus remains on defeating criminal elements, with dialogue seen as a potential path to prevent bloodshed.
