Sokoto State to Host 2027 Budget Meetings in LGAs

The Sokoto State Government has announced plans to extend its 2027 budget town hall meetings to local government areas, enabling residents to present their priority needs directly to the government. Dr Bashir Muhammad Achida, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, disclosed this during the launch of the 2027 Zonal Budget Discussion for the Southern Zone in Bodinga Local Government Area.
This initiative aligns with Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s commitment to inclusive and transparent governance, encouraging citizen involvement in determining government priorities and development projects. Achida noted that previous consultations had positive outcomes, with many community demands reflected in the 2026 budget being implemented or nearing completion.
The Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Tukur Bala Bodinga, represented by Abubakar Shehu Shamaki, praised the initiative and pledged legislative support for the proposed 2027 budget. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Buhari Umar, emphasized the importance of citizen participation in budget preparation.
Alhaji Abba Shehu Tambuwal, Chairman of ALGON, encouraged citizens to identify pressing community needs during the meetings.
