Femi Fani-Kayode Reports Xenophobic Violence Against Nigerians

Femi Fani-Kayode, the Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, stated that more than 100 Nigerians have been killed in xenophobic attacks over the past four years, with 30 of these incidents allegedly involving the South African police and defense force. Recent murders include Bishop Michael Taiwo and Mr. James Uchechukwu Nwankwo, both killed in Johannesburg.

Fani-Kayode emphasized that despite numerous reports to South African authorities, no arrests or prosecutions have occurred for these crimes. He criticized the South African government's failure to protect Nigerians, especially with a new deadline set by xenophobic organizations for foreign nationals to leave South Africa by September 30.

Fani-Kayode called for a strong response from the Nigerian government, asserting that diplomatic efforts have failed and that South Africa must be held accountable for the ongoing violence against Nigerians and other Africans.
