South Africa Passes Bill to Enhance Cross-Border Trade

The South African National Assembly has approved a bill to simplify cross-border movement and boost trade with neighboring countries by establishing shared border posts managed jointly. This initiative, aligned with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) protocol, is set to improve efficiency, strengthen security, and promote smoother movement of goods and people.

The bill seeks to create a common control zone to facilitate trade, reduce delays, and deepen cross-border cooperation. Once enacted, it is expected to significantly stimulate intra-African trade, enhance border efficiency, and support the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
