In the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers held in Lyon, France, Nigeria's senior women's basketball team, D'Tigress, faced a challenging match against South Korea, resulting in a 70-66 defeat. This match was their second group fixture in the ongoing 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup qualifying tournament.

The D'Tigress, who are seven-time Afrobasket champions and quarterfinalists in the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games, struggled with fouls throughout the game. The team had previously secured a significant victory over Colombia, winning 70-37 in their opening match.

The halftime score against South Korea was 36-32, with the quarters reading Q1: 16-20, Q2: 16-16, Q3: 19-22, and Q4: 9-19. Coach Rena Wakama expressed the need for the team to bounce back in their next fixture against the Philippines.
