Sowore Demands Probe into Adeyemi's Arrest Over Bribery

Omoyele Sowore, the president of the African Action Congress, has alleged that the arrest of Adeniyi Adeyemi is connected to an attempt to cover up a ₦400 million bribery scandal. Sowore made these claims on his X account on Tuesday, suggesting that the manner of Adeyemi's arrest indicates an official cover-up rather than a genuine pursuit of truth.

He has called for an investigation by Femi Gbajabiamila, who serves as Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, urging him to uncover the facts surrounding the allegations. Sowore further accused individuals of collecting the purported bribe on behalf of Gbajabiamila and described the circumstances of the alleged transaction as mysterious.

He criticized the federal government for attempting to obstruct justice, asserting that the real crime lies in this obstruction. Earlier reports indicated that the Nigeria Police Force arrested Adeyemi in Osun State following a bench warrant issued by a Federal High Court in Abuja due to his failure to appear for arraignment on charges of forgery, fraud, and impersonation.
