Police Confirm Omoyele Sowore Rescued, Not Kidnapped

The Ekiti State Police Command confirmed that Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), was not kidnapped in Ado-Ekiti. Instead, he was rescued by police operatives following an altercation with individuals at Tawakalitu Restaurant in the Dallimore area.
Sowore sustained minor injuries and is currently receiving medical attention at the Police Hospital in Ado-Ekiti. Police Public Relations Officer SP Abutu Sunday stated that reports of Sowore being kidnapped by armed thugs were unfounded.
The Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, has ordered a discreet investigation to determine the circumstances of the altercation and to identify those involved. The police urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.
Sowore was in Ekiti State to participate in the annual Ikogosi 17.5-kilometre marathon scheduled for October 31, 2026.
