Spiro Africa to Establish 2,000 Battery Swap Stations in Nigeria by 2026

Spiro Africa, a leading electric mobility company, aims to set up 2,000 battery swap stations across Nigeria by 2026. The expansion plan is geared towards encouraging the use of electric bikes and decreasing dependence on petrol.

Rahul Gaur, the Director of Spiro West Africa, revealed the strategy to increase the current 64 active stations to 1,000 by the end of the year and eventually reach 2,000 nationwide by the following year. The network of battery swap stations will function similarly to fuel stations, allowing riders to exchange depleted batteries for fully charged ones in minutes.

Spiro Africa is also investing in training local technicians to support the maintenance of electric vehicles. The company has already made significant progress in cities like Lagos, Abuja, Ogun, and plans to expand further into other states like Taraba.

The initiative aims to create a practical and affordable electric mobility ecosystem for everyday Nigerians.
