Analyst Warns Against State of Emergency in Nigeria's Insecurity

Public affairs analyst Mahdi Shehu cautioned against declaring a state of emergency in Nigeria to address insecurity, describing it as a dangerous move that could undermine democracy. Shehu's comments came in response to a retired senior military officer's suggestion to impose a state of emergency to tackle security challenges.

Shehu criticized the idea, warning that it could be a ploy to manipulate the democratic process and avoid elections. He urged Nigerians to demand good governance instead of falling into what he called a "booby trap" of emergency rule.
