Student Caught Cheating with AI-Powered Eyeglasses

On July 1, a student identified by the surname Lin was caught cheating during an exam at South China Agricultural University in Guangzhou. The student was using AI-powered eyeglasses, specifically the Leqi smart glasses model released in September of the previous year.

These glasses integrate four major AI models, allowing users to take a photo of exam questions and receive answers without voice commands. During the exam, a supervisor noticed the lenses of Lin's glasses briefly turned green, prompting an investigation.

Lin admitted to wearing the glasses, which are sold for around 200 yuan and come with tutorials on how to use them discreetly. This incident is part of a larger trend, as similar cheating cases have been reported in universities across Hubei, Henan, and Beijing.

Professors have expressed concerns about their preparedness to handle such advanced cheating methods, which complicate supervision efforts.
