Benue Stakeholders Unite to Tackle Out-of-School Crisis

During an education summit held in Makurdi, Benue State, stakeholders, including Governor Hyacinth Alia and Dr. Grace Adagba, reaffirmed their commitment to resolving the out-of-school crisis affecting children.

Governor Alia emphasized that access to education is a fundamental right and announced the launch of the "Brace Project," aimed at monitoring and identifying school children within communities. He reassured citizens that basic education in the state would remain free and urged parents to take advantage of educational opportunities.

The summit also highlighted the need for partnerships to strengthen the education system, with Dr. Adagba noting improvements in school infrastructure and teacher welfare.

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and UNICEF were commended for their support, with UBEC presenting a scorecard on educational reforms. The summit concluded with a call to action to ensure that every child in Benue State is enrolled in school, with a goal of achieving zero out-of-school children.
