Super Eagles Coach Ric Chell Regrets World Cup Failure

Ric Chell, the head coach of the Super Eagles, publicly expressed his disappointment regarding the team's failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the USA. The Super Eagles lost to the Democratic Republic of Congo in a penalty shootout during the African playoff, finishing with a score of 4-3.

Additionally, the team did not reach the finals of the AFCON 2025, where they finished third after losing to Morocco earlier in the year. Despite these setbacks, Chell noted the team's success in defending their title at the United Cup, achieving a 3-0 victory against Jamaica in London.

He thanked Nigerian supporters for their unwavering support and reiterated his commitment to the team, stating he feels sorry for not qualifying for the World Cup and for not winning the AFCON.
