Wilfred Ndidi Named New Captain of Super Eagles for AFCON 2025

Wilfred Ndidi has been named the new captain of the Super Eagles following the retirement of Troost Ekong. The 28-year-old midfielder expressed the importance of unity within the squad as they prepare for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

Ndidi, who has earned 71 caps for Nigeria, previously served as the vice-captain of Besiktas. The decision to appoint Ndidi as captain signifies a new phase of leadership for the team under coach Eric Chell.

The Super Eagles aim to reclaim the summit of African football after narrowly missing out on the 2023 AFCON title.
