Super Eagles to Face Russia in Friendly Match on October 6
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to play against Russia in an international friendly on October 6, 2026, at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium in Nizhny Novgorod, with kick-off scheduled for 5 PM Nigerian time. This match comes after Nigeria's mixed results in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches, where they won their first game but lost to Guinea-Bissau in the second.
This friendly will be the second encounter between the two nations, following a 1-1 draw on June 6, 2025, where Semi Ajayi scored an own goal, and Tolu Arokodare equalized for Nigeria. For fans wishing to watch the match, AfroSport TV is the only accredited broadcaster for the game, as no other platform holds the rights to air it live.
Additionally, several players, including captain Wilfred Ndidi, have withdrawn from the squad due to injuries and other issues.
