APC Disqualifies Tein Jack-Rich, Sparks Protests in Rivers

Supporters of Tein Jack-Rich protested against his disqualification from the Rivers senatorial race by the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party's primaries for the 2027 general elections. A statement issued by a coalition support group on Saturday morning in Abuja described the action of the party's screening committee as unjust and capable of worsening internal divisions within the APC in Rivers State.

Jame Ogenyi, accused the party leadership of favoring politicians loyal to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, while sidelining long-standing APC members. They alleged that the party allowed Felix Obua, a recent entrant and Wike loyalist, to contest while disqualifying Jack-Rich, who has been a loyal member for 13 years.

The coalition warned that failure to address these issues would weaken the party's structure in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections and called for internal democracy and fairness in the selection process.
