Taraba Speaker and 15 Lawmakers Defect to APC, Shift Political Landscape

Taraba State Speaker, Kizito Bonzena, along with 15 lawmakers, have defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) citing deepening factional crises within the PDP at the national level. This move has shifted the balance of power in the Taraba State House of Assembly, with the APC now having a majority.

Former Speaker Peter Diah remains the only PDP representative in the state legislature. The defection was welcomed by APC leader Bola Tinubu, signaling a new political era in Taraba State.
