Nigerian Tax Committee Engages Stakeholders on New Laws for Effective Implementation

The Nation Tax Policy Implementation Committee in Nigeria has initiated stakeholder engagements to facilitate the implementation of recently enacted tax laws. Led by Mr. Joseph Tegbe, the committee emphasizes the importance of effective change management, clear communication, and building public trust to ensure broad acceptance and successful implementation of the new tax regulations.

The high-level consultative session, attended by prominent figures like Bola Tinubu, highlights the commitment to engaging sub-national governments and relevant institutions for a harmonized interpretation and capacity-building across tax administrations. The focus is on strengthening Nigeria's fiscal framework for long-term sustainability rather than short-term revenue gains.

The participants stressed the need for consistent interpretation, issuance of clear operational guidelines, and simplified public education strategies to support the implementation process. The committee's structure includes subcommittees led by Barrister Ismael Ahm and Mr. Ajibola Olomola, with a dedicated secretariat overseeing the consultative process and issue resolution.
