Nigerian Telcos Plan N1.4 Trillion Investment in Network Expansion by 2025

Nigerian telecommunications companies are set to invest N1.4 trillion in network infrastructure expansion by 2025, with a commitment to spending N1 billion this year alone. The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has disclosed that telcos rolled out 2,850 new network sites last year to extend coverage across cities, rural areas, and major transport corridors, supporting the gradual deployment of 5G services.

Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, highlighted the industry's progress and the positive impact of the 2025 investment plan on network performance.

The NCC's latest network performance report emphasized the need for continued investment to address gaps in 5G services, upload speeds, and mobile service coverage across the country. The NCC aims to enhance network reliability, speed, and coverage to meet the growing demand for data services in Nigeria.
