Kano Governor Abba Yusuf Sacks Kwankwaso Ally Amid Political Realignment

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has relieved Sunusi Surajo, a special adviser on political matters and an ally of former Governor Kwankwaso, of his duties shortly after Surajo's resignation from NNPC. This move is seen as a significant political shift in the state, with Surajo being replaced to signal a change in political alignment by Yusuf.

The dismissal was confirmed by Yusuf's spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, through a social media post. The political recalibration follows Yusuf's exit from the NNPP, citing internal instability and leadership disputes.

The defection wave has seen several local government chairmen and legislators declare loyalty to Yusuf. Despite the fractures within the Kwankwasiyya movement, Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulssalam Gwarzo has chosen to remain aligned with the governor.
