Whistleblowers Expose Fraud at Chad Basin Development Authority

Whistleblowers have alerted authorities to alleged financial misconduct within the Chad Basin Development Authority in Borno State, claiming fraudulent asset sales and internal revenue leakages. The allegations, which call for urgent federal government intervention, involve the current leadership, including Managing Director Tijjani Musa Tumsah and Chairman Prof.

Abdu Dauda Biu. Staff members have accused the management of conducting auctions without due process, particularly concerning the disposal of unserviceable vehicles and machinery.

Items reportedly sold include loaders, excavators, and various trucks. Allegations extend to the improper acquisition of assets, with claims of financial inducements influencing auction approvals.

Staff reported payments ranging from 50,000 to 500,000 naira per member to facilitate these transactions. The whistleblowers also highlighted a lack of compliance with legal frameworks, absence of stakeholder consultation, and failure to publish auction outcomes, violating the Public Procurement Act of 2007.

Senior officials are alleged to have positioned themselves to acquire luxury vehicles through these auctions.
