Nigerian Military Investigates Video of Alleged Terror Kingpin Declaring He's Alive

The Nigerian military is probing a video where a terror suspect, known as "Ez," claims to be alive despite earlier reports of his capture. The suspect, a key figure in the Biafra agitation, was allegedly apprehended in Imo State during a military operation in October 2025.

The video, circulating on social media since January 28, 2026, shows Ez dancing and making threats, alleging betrayal and seeking medical treatment in Akwa Ibom State. Major General Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the authenticity of the footage and assured that the military would take immediate action.

Ez is associated with the Biafra Liberation Army, a faction led by Simon Ekpa, a controversial figure within the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The region has witnessed increased insecurity due to attacks by various armed groups, with the Nigerian government often accusing IPOB of involvement.

Simon Ekpa was jailed on terrorism charges in Finland in 2025.
