Troops Neutralize 80 Terrorists in Mallam Fatori Battle

In a significant military operation in Mallam Fatori, Borno State, Nigerian troops from the Joint Task Force neutralized 80 terrorists following a fierce overnight battle on Wednesday. The operation, involving the 68 Battalion located in Sector 3, was a response to a coordinated five-prong attack by insurgents.

Troops engaged the attackers with superior firepower and tactical maneuvers, forcing them to retreat and leaving behind heavy casualties. Air support from the Nigerian Air Force and allied Nigerien assets provided precise strikes, further decimating fleeing insurgents.

Subsequent sweeps of the battlefield led to the recovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition, including dozens of AK-47 rifles, machine guns, RPG launchers, and components for improvised explosive devices. Notably, three senior terrorist commanders, including Malam Abdulrahman Gobara, Malam Ba Yuram, and Abou Ayyuba, were among those killed.

Despite the intensity of the encounter, four soldiers were wounded, and the troops maintained firm control over Mallam Fatori and its surrounding areas.
