Terrorists Use Tricycles for Bomb Attacks in Borno

On Monday, during the Ramadan fast, a series of bomb attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State, led to the deaths of at least 23 people and injuries to over 100 others. Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, revealed that the attackers utilized commercial tricycles, known as keke napep, to deliver improvised explosive devices.

The blasts occurred around 7 PM in crowded areas, including near the post office and the entrance to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. Ndume attributed the attacks to Boko Haram suicide bombers and expressed outrage over the boldness of the terrorists, who disseminated footage of the atrocities on social media platforms like TikTok.

He highlighted a critical failure in intelligence that allowed such attacks to happen and warned of the potential for future assaults using similar delivery methods. Ndume emphasized the need for improved communication and tracking of terrorist movements within the community to enhance security measures.
