Thailand Launches 10-Year Residency Visa for Retirees

Thailand has announced the Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa scheme aimed at attracting wealthy retirees to live in the country for an extended period. This program offers a 10-year residency and various tax and non-tax benefits, targeting four categories of applicants: Wealthy Global Citizens, Wealthy Pensioners, Work-from-Thailand Professionals, and Highly Skilled Professionals.
To qualify, retirees must be at least 50 years old and demonstrate a minimum passive income of USD 80,000 per year from sources such as pensions or rental income. Those with passive income between USD 40,000 and USD 80,000 can qualify by making an additional investment of USD 250,000 in Thailand.
This investment can be in Thai government bonds, direct investments in registered companies, or property ownership. Applicants must also show adequate health coverage, either through health insurance of at least USD 50,000, social security benefits, or a bank deposit of USD 100,000 maintained for 12 months.
The application process is managed by Thailand's Board of Investment.
