Three Killed in Rare Philippine School Shooting Incident

A tragic school shooting occurred at San Jose National High School in Leyte Province, Philippines, around 9:00 AM GMT, resulting in the deaths of at least three individuals and injuring five others. The Philippine National Police (PNP) has not yet established a motive for the shooting.

Victims were immediately transported to a nearby medical facility for appropriate treatment. Two individuals, reportedly students, were arrested at the scene.

Clair Castro, a presidential spokeswoman, stated that school shootings are rare in the Philippines, where gun violence is a significant concern. The country has strict regulations on legal gun ownership, although a large black market for firearms exists.

This incident follows a previous shooting in 2022, where three people, including a former city mayor, were killed during a graduation ceremony at Ateneo de Manila University.
