Rights Activist Raises Alarm Over Influx of Foreign Fighters in Sokoto, Nigeria

A rights activist, Kefa, has raised concerns about the infiltration of three trailer-loads of foreign fighters into Sokoto, Nigeria, contributing to ongoing insecurity. These fighters, allegedly linked to the Lakurawa group, are said to be sustaining their activities through ransom payments from kidnappings.

Kefa warns that the continuous influx of fighters and arms from neighboring countries like Mali and Niger is enabling terrorist groups to expand operations, posing a significant security threat. The activist also highlighted recent attacks in Kaduna State, particularly in the Kajuru local government area, where worshippers were abducted and communities displaced by terrorists.
